Wheat Balls (Laddoo)

India...Is a Multi cultural society with many celebrations...Festivals...And  Laddoo is an integral part of any Festival.

So here is a simple recipe for Wheat Laddu/Laddoo.This is a healthy Laddoo for kids especially.
This recipe contains  wheat flour and nuts with some butter and sugar.Replace butter with low fat margarine and sugar with Jaggery/sugar substitute .Then this can be a completely healthy snack.
So here we go..
Ingredients



Wheat flour (atta)- 2 cups
Sugar-Powdered-1 cup
Almonds-1/2 cup
Milk-2 tbsp
Butter/Margarine- 2-3 tbsp
Cardamom-2 nos

Method Of Preparation 
1.Heat a non stick pan and dry fry wheat for 3-5 minutes until light brown.
2.Now add the butter/margarine and mix well with a spatula.Butter should coat all the wheat flour nicely and let this fry for 3-4 minutes.Now a nice aroma emerges.

3.Add in the powdered sugar.Sugar has been powdered along with whole cardamoms.
Mix really well.
4.Now add milk little by little and mix until it turns smooth.Allow it to cook well.
5.Add in chopped nuts.

And mix well.
6.When its warm mix it well with hands.

7.Make balls and coat with powdered sugar.

Fish Curry (Sardine Curry)

Sardine is a small oily fish,rich in nutrients.
Ingredients
Sardines -500 g
Onion-1 big (make a paste)
Ginger-paste -1 tbsp
Chilly powder-1tbsp
Fenugreek(Methi seeds)-1 tsp
Mustard seeds-1 tsp
Curry Leaves-
Dry red chilly-2-3 nos
Raw mango- 1 cut into small pieces.
(Use Kokum(2-3 nos) if you don't find raw mango.)
Oil-2 -3 tsp
Method Of Preparation
Heat a non stick skillet or sauce pan.Add 2 tsp oil-Splutter mustard seeds.Now add in fenugreek seeds,dry red chilly and curry leaves.When they become slightly brown,add in the ginger paste.Fry this well.
Now add in onion paste.After 2 minutes add in turmeric powder,chilly powder and salt.Keep stirring until oil separates .Now add the fish pieces.Coat the fish with the sauteed masala.Let fish fry a little.
Lightly Fry the fish with all the masala-
Now add 11/2 cups of warm water,mango pieces and more salt if needed.
Once its cooked well(in 3-4 minutes) and gravy is thick,add 1 big spoon of coconut oil and curry leaves on top.
Close the lid to lock the flavors.

Yummy,tangy,delicious and nutritious fish curry is ready to serve!!!

Oats Balls


Oats Balls are delicious and diabetic friendly.Oat meal contains good amount of dietary fiber .They say that a bowl of oats in the morning lower cholesterol.So here is an anytime snack with oatmeal. Diabetic patients should use minimum (less than 1/4 cup)Jaggery. Jaggery is a substitute for sugar but only taken occasionally.

Ingredients
Oatmeal-2 cups
Jaggery-grated -1/2 cup
Coconut-1/4 cup
Cardamom powder-1 tsp
Method of Preparation
In a pan,.fry oat meal until crispy.Add in coconut,jaggery and cardamom powder.
Mix well.Let the jaggery melt a bit.Now when its still warm,make balls .
Delicious Oat meal Balls can be eaten as breakfast or tea time snack.

Fruit Salad with Yogurt and flax meal dressing~Diabetic Friendly.

Today,8th March is the first Anniversary of this blog ~ Deepsrecipes. 
My heart felt acknowledgment of appreciation to each and every one of you,who takes time to read and try out my recipes.
Today,I assure you that deepsrecipes will try to ameliorate in future.
This is a sequel to my previous post-if you haven't read it yet,take a peek here.
As I said earlier,there are dual reasons to fete today.So,here is a dessert recipe (Diabetic friendly). I have tried to include multiple food groups into this tasty no-sugar sweet,so that you can enjoy the luscious taste of a dessert ,still adhering to your diabetic diet.
This contains flax seed,which is good source of Omega3 fatty acids .

Ingredients
1.Plain Low fat Yogurt-1/2 cup(If needed,make it thin by adding some water)
2.Honey or Maple syrup-to taste
Apple-2 no(Cut into small pieces)(Use mixed fruits instead of just apple)
(Fruits are natural sugars,but contains micro nutrients essential for you.So those with high blood sugar level, consume fruits in small portions)
3.Whole Flax seeds-1 tbsp(Grind it before adding to the salad.If you are using flax meal,its already powdered so add 2 tbsp)
4.Vanilla essence-1tsp
5.Unsweetened chocolate sauce-
6.Crushed Almonds-1tbsp
Method of Preparation
Beat the yogurt well with all the ingredients other than fruits.Pour the dressing over the apple or mixed fruits.
If you like chocolate,you can top the dessert with unsweetened chocolate sauce and almonds.
3-4 minutes after mixing this fruit salad,flax seeds gets soggy and dessert turns to creamy and divine,you all must try this to get the real taste!!

Mushroom Pepper Fry

Mushroom Pepper Fry

Mushroom Pepper fry is a very simple and quick recipe.
You can have this with Fried Rice.
Try this method and enjoy the fabulous taste at home.
Cleaning mushroom in proper method is the most important part.
Coat the mushrooms with some salt, turmeric and all purpose flour.
Keep aside for 5 minutes. Now wash them under running water.
 This is to remove any poisonous substances from it.
Now boil 1 cup water, add salt and turmeric powder. Put the cleaned mushrooms in this water for 2 minutes.
Now mushrooms are ready to cook.
Ingredients
Cleaned Mushroom-1 cup
Pepper powder-1tbsp
Salt-to taste
Curry leaves-
Onion-1 big finely chopped.
Garlic-2 cloves
Green chili-2 no’s
Oil-1 big spoon
Method of preparation
Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan, add in chopped garlic.
When it turns brown, add chopped onion and green chili.
Now add curry leaves and cooked mushroom.
Add pepper powder according to your taste.
Finally, add in some vinegar.
Stir fry until you get required color.
Serve hot.
 Simple and delicious!!

Carrot Cake Pancake


Carrot Cake Pancake(Eggless)




This is an easy, very nutritious and more than anything, VERY TASTY breakfast for you and family.
I was experimenting with Carrot ,wanted to make an easy Bread.. Then suddenly thought, why dnt use our normal Pan instead of Oven?And so,here it is..!
This pancake has got a new flavor and its a quick breakfast. Just wanted a change from  those boring side dishes with Carrot.

This is tasty when it’s still hot and with maple syrup. Hope you have noticed the steam on my Pan cake. :-)
Ingredients
All Purpose flour – 1cup
Finely Grated Carrot- 1 cup
Milk- 2 tbsp
Oil- 2 tbsp
Vanilla essence -1 tsp
Baking Powder – 1 tsp
Baking soda- ½ tsp
Salt – ¼ tsp
Sugar- 1-2 tbsp
Method of preparation
Make a cake batter as follows. Beat oil with Sugar, add in salt. Now add milk and Vanilla.
Sieve flour and baking powder, and soda .Add in to the above mixture.
Finally add grated Carrot, incorporate well.
Heat a Pancake Griddle or normal Pan. Apply butter on the pan.
Pour in one  ladle of batter .Make pancakes and serve with Maple syrup.
